Hirsch Summary
In a cooking pot with meat on the fire, a piece of trefah (improperly slaughtered) meat fell without anyone noticing. The broth had been ladled off while still warm, and when the mistake was discovered, there was no longer sixty times the volume of the piece of meat. Samuel b. Salomo a'Cathan rules that if the trefah and kosher meat are of the same type, the dish is permissible as long as there is more permitted than forbidden content in the pot. For dissimilar meats, the pot's contents are only allowed if a non-Jew confirms that the forbidden taste is not discernible.
