Hirsch Summary
A and B enter into a partnership agreement for a duration of 3 years. A remains in the country, while B goes overseas. They exchange shipments of goods, and the proceeds from the incoming cargo are used to buy local products as return freight. The business runs smoothly in the first year. In the second year, A falls ill. His sons mishandle the return freight, causing B to have nothing to trade. B engages in other activities and earns well. After six months, A's sons resume handling the cargo promptly, but they do not inform B of their father's death. In the third year, B returns home to see his children. It is then that he learns of A's death. B wants to terminate the partnership due to A's demise, but A's sons insist on maintaining it until the full three-year contract period elapses. Samuel ben Salomo a Catan grants B the right to dissolve the partnership now (at the time of knowledge). B is also entitled to the entire amount he earned from other activities, but the remaining profit must be shared with A's sons.
