Hirsch Summary
An inquiry from Benjamin b. Moses Lopes Colasso: A merchant, during a period of declining business, had vowed to give half of his profits to God. Upon his death, a record reflecting this vow was found in his books. However, the guardians of his children refused to disburse the substantial balance of this account to charitable institutions, despite the deceased's further instruction to pay all book balances to the rightful owners. The administrators of the charitable institutions demanded the sum for the poor. Chija Cohen de Lara sided with them against the guardians.
