Hirsch Summary
Can the owner of the first floor demand the renewal of a stove, the smoke of which bothers him, from the owner of the ground floor? Joseph ben Moses Alvares mourns the passing of the Rector, his father-in-law, in a poem whose verses begin with the words "yesterday and today," followed by prose. Alvares grants the owner of the first floor the right to demand it, but assumes that he will not actually exercise this formal right; because "Jews should be compassionate." (Memorial, etc.)
