Hirsch Summary
Two neighboring houses, one of which was a story higher than the other, had a common partition wall, with the beams of each house being inserted halfway into the wall. The owner of the lower house wanted to add a story. The owner of the other objected, claiming that the wall couldn't bear the additional load. Moses ben David Rodrigues Lopes decides that the construction may proceed unless experts confirm the claim of the owner of the higher house. However, the questioner should ascertain whether there exists a contrary customary law of the city.
