PEH481
Hirsch Summary
A borrowed 2000 guilders from a non-Jew. B, A's brother, and his friend C guaranteed the entire debt of A. A died, and B became the guardian of A's nephews. When the non-Jew demanded repayment but received nothing, he imprisoned C for debt. B then paid the 2000 guilders from A's estate. When the nephews reached adulthood, they demanded compensation from the guardian for this payment, arguing that, as minors under Jewish law, the debt could not have been collected from them. Abraham Fernandez rejects them.
