Two Jews rented a place from a non-Jew, one on the ground floor and the other on the first floor. There was a leak in the ceiling of the ground floor, causing water to seep through. The landlord refused to fix the damage and even physically assaulted both tenants when they approached him about the repair. The tenants now argued about who should bear the cost of the repair. Chija Cohen de Lara ruled that they should both share the expenses.
