Hirsch Summary
A bought gold and silverware worth 200 fl. from B and pledged, as he could not pay in cash, 20 fl. of his monthly salary, which he received from C, to B in writing. However, before any payment was made, A presented C with a receipt from B for the entire amount and asked him not to pay anything to B. B claimed that this receipt referred to another debt, which A disputed. According to the decision of Meir ben Abraham Hacohen Alfasi, B must provide evidence. Otherwise, neither A nor C are obligated to make payment to B.
