Hirsch Summary
A designated that his sons should inherit him; he bequeathed 12,000 guilders to the three daughters of his brother, with the stipulation that this amount was intended for their dowries. However, if the nieces did not marry, the money should go to his (A's) sons. The eldest niece was already engaged at the time of A's death. The second niece died unmarried after A's death. Now, the eldest niece wanted 6000 guilders. The third niece claimed the entire 12,000 guilders, possibly only for her own security, while the sons of A wanted to give nothing to the eldest niece and only 4,000 guilders to the youngest. Samuel ben Salomo a Catan awards each of the eldest and youngest girls 4,000 guilders, and the remaining 4000 guilders belong to the sons of A.
