Hirsch Summary
Request by Benjamin Dias Brandon: A wealthy man, Mr. A, had no children with his wife. He often expressed in front of witnesses that he wished to have wealth to leave to the children from his wife's previous marriage. When his brother passed away, Mr. A, who was ill, decided that his wife's children should inherit his brother's share. After Mr. A's death, the surviving third brother denied the validity of this arrangement. Dr. Aron Ledesma supports his claim. The stepsons could not receive their stepfather's wealth under the title of 'inheritance,' but rather under a different title. According to Jewish law, only someone who is legally entitled to inherit can receive it. See reference 511.
