Hirsch Summary
Someone had a growth between their shoulders that their son, who was a doctor, considered very dangerous. The son said that the damage could only be healed by cutting it down to healthy flesh, but he did not want to perform the operation himself because the Torah prohibits injuring one's father under penalty of death. However, the father did not want to consult another doctor to avoid the matter becoming known in the city and being shunned or ridiculed. If the son did not operate on him, he preferred to perish rather than undergo the procedure. Samuel de Salomo a'Cathan permits the son to operate on the father.
