Hirsch Summary
An elderly woman, who had fallen to her brother-in-law in levirate marriage in a distant location, did not want to undertake the long sea journey, especially since she had no intention of remarrying. However, her brother-in-law, who planned to marry someone else, demanded that she undergo chalitzah (a ritual release). Samuel ben Salomo a'Cathan ruled that the woman must undertake the journey, especially since her brother-in-law promised to reimburse her expenses.
