Hirsch Summary
Regarding the question of whether an animal that is otherwise healthy but has its liver wormy and blocked in its veins can be consumed, a dispute arose among Torah scholars in a city. Moses Alvarez deemed the consumption of the animal permissible. He disapproved of the dispute among scholars; they should have expressed their opinions calmly and then voted. He bid farewell to the questioner, who had submitted many inquiries to him over the years; he was now leaving the seminary to take up a teaching position. However, he would still remain associated with the organizations Gemiluth Chasodim, Beth Joseph, Shebeth Achim Gam Yachad, and Or Thora. In his rhymed farewell message, he thanked Abi Jetonim, Talmud Thora, and Ez Chayim for all the good he had received from the time he came to Amsterdam as an orphan, 41 years ago.
