Hirsch Summary
On the semi-festive days of the Feast of Tabernacles, a person was in mourning and observed the applicable mourning laws, including private ones. He asks whether, after the holidays, during the actual mourning week, he may attend the synagogue. He lived in a small town where he would have participated in private worship services in the synagogue. Following the decision of Rabbi Isaac ben Sheshet and the ancient Catalonian practice, the physician David ben Jacob de Meza rules that the mourner may attend the synagogue only on Monday, Thursday, and Sabbath, as well as when he performs a circumcision as a mohel.
