Hirsch Summary
A widow fell from a mule 8 months after her husband's death. As a result of this fall, she gave birth prematurely to a girl who died after 30 days. The question arose whether levirate marriage (marriage to the deceased husband's brother) could be performed under these circumstances or if Chaliza (levirate release) was necessary. Jacob ben Abraham Baffan ruled that only Chaliza could take place under these circumstances. (see 345 and 883)
