Hirsch Summary
Someone had sworn an oath to their sister-in-law, promising to give her Chaliza if necessary. However, when the situation arose, the person wanted to proceed with levirate marriage (marriage to the deceased brother's widow) and explained that they hadn't considered becoming a widower themselves when making the oath. Samuel b. Salomo a'Cathan ruled, subject to the agreement of other Torah scholars, that the man could be compelled to perform Chaliza.
