Hirsch Summary
Someone vowed during a severe illness to strictly observe the tithe obligation (Zehnten). Specifically, they intended to allocate half for providing dowries for orphaned girls and the other half for the poor. During the first settlement, the guardians of the orphaned girls demanded their share, which amounted to 5% of the capital, not just the annual yield. Samuel ben Salomo a'Cathan supported the guardians' claim, especially if the tithe had not been distributed at all until now.
