Hirsch Summary
A Torah scholar regretted that he frequently had other thoughts during prayer. To force himself to concentrate, he made a vow. But when he saw that his thoughts still wandered, he asked if he needed to annul the vow. David ben Raphael Meldola decides that the scholar must make an effort to concentrate as much as possible; otherwise, "the Torah was not given to angels." See No. 856.
