Hirsch Summary
A woman sent a boy with a sack of wheat to the mill. On the way, he met an acquaintance who asked him, since he wouldn't get to the milling right away, if he could first bring another sack of flour to someone else. The boy agreed but was then attacked by a robber on the way. In his fear, he threw away the sack of flour and fled. Later, he couldn't find the sack again. The acquaintance wanted to keep the sack of wheat as compensation. Solomon Jessurun decides, following the responses of Rabbi Yomtob Zahalon (No. 181), that the sack of wheat should be returned to the owner, as she had nothing to do with the matter. The boy, however, is not liable for the damage.
