Inquiry by David Samuel Franco [the name is uncertain, as only hinted at in wordplay]: A young man spoke with a girl about marriage. When she did not object, he threw a ring into her neckline and pronounced the marriage formula in front of witnesses. The girl, shocked, was speechless, immediately opened her dress, and threw away the ring. She hurried to her father and said in front of two witnesses that she had considered the entire conversation only as a joke and had no intention of marrying the young man. Samuel Mendez de Sola decides that the marriage is not to be considered valid since a fundamental element was lacking.
