An independent woman promised in the Thanai'm contract (engagement agreement) to bring 20,000 fl. to her future husband. However, due to a sudden drop in the price of a commodity she owned, her wealth was reduced by 20%. The man now refused to marry her. Abraham ben David Fidanque decides in favor of the man; but if the loss had occurred due to a fire or force majeure, the law would have been on the woman's side. Cf. Nr. 132 and 855.
