Hirsch Summary
When a man heard that his only son had likely died overseas, he fell ill from grief and stipulated in his will that, since his son was presumably dead, his friend should inherit his estate. However, if the son were to return, the friend should be obliged to pay him a certain sum, and could keep the rest. The son did return and demanded the entire inheritance. David ben Raphael Meldola only awards the son the amount set by the father.
