A young woman who was engaged to a Cohen was reported by a man, in his presence and that of another witness, to have entered into a marriage. The second witness, however, had disappeared. According to the ruling of Moses ben David Rodriguez Lopez, the young woman should be solemnly admonished under the threat of excommunication (ban) to tell the truth, and she should especially be warned that, if the other witness confirms the truth of the testimony, she would have to be divorced from both men.
