David Hacohen d'Azevedo asks: A Marrano in Lisbon has appealed to his brother, a respected merchant in Amsterdam, to use his influence with the Pope to obtain a bull that allows him, the Marrano, to marry a relative. He also wants him to obtain a bull for a friend to secure a bishopric. In both cases, he wants to reimburse the expenses, and for the second case, he also wants to pay a larger sum. The question now arises whether the Jew in Amsterdam can take on the mediation at all and whether he may accept money. David ben Raphael Meldola allows both.
