Hirsch Summary
A borrowed 500 florins from B, using a ring with precious stones worth 1,000 guilders as collateral. A stored the ring with his valuables. When B sought to redeem the pledge, the ring had gone missing. B demanded 500 florins as compensation for the loss. However, the value of the precious stones had decreased. A argued that, if found liable, he should only have to pay the current value of the ring. Moses Alvarez ruled that A must pay the current value.
