Hirsch Summary
A's sister-in-law was married to B. A lent 2,000 gulden to B. The loan was intended to be fixed for two years. Six months after the money was given, B's wife passed away. When A demanded the half-dowry due to him according to the marriage contract (equivalent to 5,000 florins), B wanted to offset it with the 2,000 florins and pay only 3,000 florins. Isaac Saruco deemed this acceptable only if A were an unreliable person; otherwise, he had the right to continue enjoying the loan for the remaining two years.
