Hirsch Summary
A woman brought 50,000 florins into the marriage. The marriage contract stipulated that if she predeceased her husband, he would receive 30,000 florins, with the remaining 20,000 florins going to her heirs. Contrary to this provision, the woman created a legally valid will, specifying that 10,000 florins of the 20,000 intended for her heirs should go to the poor. The woman's heirs contested this part of the will, claiming it altered the terms of the marriage contract. Chija Cohen de Lara rejected their claim. Following his decision, he addressed an apparent contradiction in Maimonides' Mishneh Torah regarding inheritance rights of sons, husbands of mothers, and wives. See reference 122.
