Hirsch Summary
In a synagogue, it was customary to read from the Torah scroll of a specific family on the Day of Atonement. When a new president failed to do so and also refused to uphold the obligation to observe the custom, the case was brought to the seminar. Samuel ben Salomo a'Cathan declares that the custom should be maintained. In an introductory remark, he mourns the loss of his wife.
