Hirsch Summary
Three creditors, of whom A held two promissory notes of 600 guilders each, B one of 500 guilders, and C one of 600 guilders, disputed the distribution of their debtor's estate. The estate had a value of 600 guilders. Samuel ben Salomo a'Cathan ruled that A should claim two parts, while B and C should each claim one part. [In Jewish law, division is done by heads, not proportionally by sums. The essence of the decision is that two promissory notes count as two "heads".] See also No. 641.
