Someone made the following bequests among others on his deathbed: 1.) 3000 guilders for an orphan from the immediate family if married within the next ten years, otherwise the amount should be given to any deserving young girl for her dowry, 2.) 1000 guilders for his niece's dowry. Now this niece, an orphan, married soon after and demanded both bequests, as no girl was more closely related to the deceased than she was. Samuel ben Salomo a'Cathan granted her both bequests.
