Hirsch Summary
In a poultry yard, an animal (the type of which could not be determined) fell and killed another piece of poultry. Some other animals showed blood traces without visible injuries. Are the animals and eggs permissible for consumption? Chija Cohen de Lara suggests allowing the male animals to live for 12 months and the females until they lay eggs again. If the owner wants to slaughter them earlier, only the trachea should be slaughtered, and the esophagus should be examined under both skins. Eggs are only allowed if the hens continue laying after 21 days. Otherwise, the eggs are forbidden for consumption. In the latter case, they should not be sold to non-Jews to prevent them from selling to Jews. Refer to source 687.
