Inquiry by Jacob b. David Israel Athias: A non-kosher chicken had been left in a large pot of water (more than sixty times the volume of the chicken) for 24 hours. It was then cooked with other chickens (less than sixty times), but the specific non-kosher chicken could not be identified. When the error was discovered, it was also found that the water vessel had previously come into contact with forbidden substances, though the water and its contents had not reached the sixtyfold amount in this case. Despite this, Moses Gomes de Mesquita permits the chicken and thus the dish to be consumed.
