Question Summary
A mother believes her daughter may have been exchanged at birth with the daughter of an illicit relation. Does this prevent her from marrying a Cohen?
Question Full
On the berthing floor of a hospital, where Jewish woman go, a woman complaints that the baby girl brought to her is not her daughter. And even though the doctor and the nurses insisted this was her daughter, she stuck to her claims that her daughter had a definite birthmark. And at that time there was also another woman, in our holy city, that became pregnant out-of-wedlock, and the rumour was that she became pregnant from her sister's husband. She also gave birth to a daughter that day. And after a few years when the first girl grew up, she was about to be engaged to a Cohen. The question then was if the Rabbi would allow the marriage to proceed.
