Question Summary
Shabbat New Year a village has no Shofar for the next day. A non-Jew in a nearby town can on that Shabbat finish off and sell a Shofar via a non-Jew in the village.
Question Full
On the day before the New Year which came out on a Friday in a given village when the Shofar blower arrived one hour before the start of the holiday to try once more to blow the Shofar, by mistake it fell out of his hands and it cracked and became void as a result. There is no other Shofar in the place and because he did not now what to do, he sent a non-Jew on the following day, Shabbat, to a nearby town, even though it is beyond the limits of the village, to ask for a Shofar from another non-Jew living there, who was involved with making and repairing Shofars. But the trip was for nought for he returned empty handed. But he came back saying that the worker there has one unfinished Shofar, which he did not want to lend out but is available for sale. And he said that if he returns right away on the same day - Shabbat - with money in his hands he will finish it and sell it to the Parnasim of the village. But if he returns late he will not have enough time to finish the work. And now the Shofar blower comes to the rabbi as to what to do.
