Question Summary
Non-Jews rent tools from a Jew at a rate that includes the cost of power. May they use the tools to make items for the owner on Shabbat at a per-piece rate?
Question Full
A Jew has a factory where all the tools move electrically. All the tools are owned by the Jew. And he rents out the electric tools to non-Jewish workers to do work for him, as well work for others on the condition that their wages are proportional to the number of items they make (piece work), and he covers the cost of the power they need to do their work. And now the Jew comes to ask the rabbi if he is allowed to let them do this work on Shabbat even if they do the work for him.
