Hirsch Summary
A wanted to marry his daughter to B, who lived in another city. According to the Tannaim, the groom was responsible for paying the engagement gifts. When the engagement was broken due to a physical defect in the bride, which falls under the category of significant defects, the groom refused to pay the engagement gifts. Joseph Piza decides that the groom's refusal is legally justified but recommends that he pay compensation at his discretion.
