A sent B, who lived overseas, a letter of exchange for 2000 florins. He instructed him to buy a specific type of silk garments for this amount and to load them onto a specific ship. B could not obtain the prescribed type of silk garments and therefore shipped different ones. The ship sank. A held B liable for the damage.
