Hirsch Summary
Request by Samuel Mendes de Sola: Since there is a differing interpretation between Maimonides and the Ra'avad regarding the laws of mourning on a festival day, the question arises as to how mourning should be observed for a groom who, during his wedding week, receives news of a death. At the time of receipt, the deceased is considered "close," but after the wedding week, they would be regarded as "distant." David b. Raphael Meldola rules that during the wedding week, the groom should observe the mourning regulations, which are generally not widely known (????? ??????). Afterward, however, he should mourn only for one hour.
