A man had lent a woman 100 gulden. When she couldn't pay on the repayment day, he agreed to postpone the repayment by a year and married her in the presence of two witnesses, enjoying the benefit of this loan. Is the marriage legally valid, even though the principle exists that one should not entrust a woman with a loan? Jacob b. Abraham Bassan decides that the marriage is to be considered as 'doubtful.'
