Hirsch Summary
A man who frequently traveled to villages received regular meat shipments from his wife. His wife always included a note indicating whether the meat was already kosher or not. Once, the accompanying note did not specify, but the man did not notice. Only on the Sabbath did he have doubts about whether he could consume the meat. Samuel ben Salomo a Catan rules that if the meat had been scalded with hot water, it is permissible for consumption; otherwise, it is forbidden. (see 731 and 947).
