He ensured that his children followed these practices joyfully during his lifetime and for many years after his death. However, when they reached marriageable age, they feared that adhering to these practices might cause conflicts with their spouses or new families. They asked whether they could be exempted from these self-imposed restrictions and pious customs. According to the ruling of the physician David ben Jacob de Meza, the children can annul their vows. However, for matters they believed to be obligatory rather than voluntary restrictions, they need not seek annulment. They can simply abandon these practices. See reference 284.
