Here, he married the daughter of his sister. One day, a young man, B, from Media arrived in Sophia with a caravan. A welcomed him as his son, claiming he had him with a Jewish woman in Media, and took him into his house. B stayed there for about a month when A suddenly died. A's brothers then refused to let B inherit A's estate, claiming that A had never told them he was married in Media. Furthermore, the question regarding levirate marriage or chalitza for A's wife in Sophia was unclear. Salomo Jessurun decides that A's assets, which were in B's possession at the time of his death, belong to B, regardless of whether B is a legitimate or illegitimate child. Regarding the rest of A's estate, B must provide witnesses that he is A's son. If such witnesses come forward, A's widow is free; otherwise, she receives chalitza.
