Since B was unsuccessful in selling the item, he wanted to return it to A. On the way there, he momentarily entrusted it to C in his shop for safekeeping. C recognized the item as belonging to A. He refused to return it but instead wanted to keep it in exchange for a debt he had against A. Abraham ben David Fidanque decides that B must compensate A for the damage, as he unauthorizedly gave away the item. B can then turn to C because he damages B by withholding an entrusted property. Ultimately, C can sue A for the debt he was owed.
