<text>A firstborn boy could not be circumcised for several months due to illness. Should his redemption still take place after 30 days? Joseph ben Moses Alvares decides that the redemption should take place at its appointed time. If the circumcision happens by chance on the 31st day, it takes temporal precedence over the redemption. However, if an adult undergoes circumcision and must also undergo redemption, the circumcision must precede the redemption under all circumstances. An introduction in formal language follows, apparently again by Dr. David Franco Mendes, the author of the following opinion, dated 2nd of Cheshvan 5543. That the author of the opinion and the dedication is one and the same is all the more likely, as the response is not dated. The individual stanzas vary in length but conclude with quotations that end with the word "good." The author recounts that he learned from Rabbi Salomo Aylion, Rabbi Abendana de Britta, and R. Salem. Rabbi Hacohen d'Azevedo is now the Rector. He owes his admission to the circle of seven other scholars to the intercession of Aron ben Isaac Capadose and Isaac ben David Henriquez de Castro.</text>
