B was responsible for collecting the payments and transferring the amount via a bill of exchange (lettera de cambio). Despite numerous reminders, B delayed, causing A to fall into financial difficulties and forcing him to undertake the costly journey again. Eventually, B paid. He claimed that he had previously been unable to obtain a bill of exchange for the transfer. A countered by pointing out that B had made transfers on his own account. Additionally, B had lost a promissory note, which, according to local commercial practices, meant he could not collect the debt. A demanded that B reimburse him for the travel expenses and compensate for the loss of the promissory note. Moses ben Samuel Israel dismissed A's claim.
