<text>Someone, who had converted to Judaism, bequeathed their cash assets worth 20,000 fl. Since they had neither children nor converted relatives. They designated a quarter of the inheritance for the poor, the promotion of Torah study, the redemption of captives, and the dowry for orphaned girls. Before they could make further arrangements, illness robbed him of speech. Then, someone claiming to be his brother appeared. This person converted to Judaism and remained in the sick person's household. The sick person willingly accepted care from this individual and even took medicine from him. After the sick person's death, the guest presented letters from the deceased, in which the deceased addressed them as their brother and urged them to come, become Jewish, and subsequently inherit the estate. The alleged brother demanded the entire inheritance, asserting that the bequest was legally ineffective due to false assumptions. Chija Cohen de Lara ruled in favor of the administrators of charitable institutions, awarding them the intended amounts (the entire 20,000 fl.). The remaining non-cash assets belonged to the brother, not due to blood relations but because they were the first to take possession of the ownerless property.</text>
