He appointed his relative B as trustee; upon B's death, C and D, also relatives of the deceased, were to take over management. After their deaths, the seven elders of the city were to assume the office. Following B's death, C and D assumed the office according to this provision. When C also passed away, the elders of the city were reluctant to entrust the management to D, as although he was an honorable scholar, he lacked understanding of business matters. D protested this decision, prompting the elders to continue paying him the fees due for managing the foundation but excluding him from the actual administration. Chija Cohen de Lara sided with D but suggested that the community assign someone to advise and supervise him, without entitlement to fees.
